Drainfield Installation

Drainfield and Leach Field Installation in Bangor

The drainfield is where the treatment finishes, and where a poorly sized system fails first. Museumhouseonbloor builds gravel trench and plastic chamber soil absorption fields for Bangor homes, each sized to the perc rate so treated effluent disperses into the ground instead of surfacing in the yard or backing up into the house.

Why Sizing to the Perc Rate Matters

A drainfield that is too small for the soil floods, and a failed field is one of the most expensive septic repairs a homeowner faces. The percolation rate from the site evaluation tells us how many square feet of trench the ground needs. We build to that number and to the four feet of separation to groundwater that Maine rules require, so the field lasts for decades in Penobscot County soil.

Our Process

We stake the field to the approved design, excavate the trenches, set the distribution box so flow splits evenly across every lateral, and place washed gravel or chamber units with filter fabric. We confirm the layout at the final inspection before backfill, then restore the grade. A settled or clogged distribution box on an older system can also be reset to bring the field back into balance.
